This afternoon the first of the Omnitrans New Flyer Xcelsior buses hit the streets on its maiden voyage. Passengers on Route 14 were excited and happy to be the first ones to have the opportunity to ride. “We’re making history!” someone shouted from the back of the bus, and everyone laughed.
People loved the new fleet graphics and gave the bus high marks for coolness, comfort and roominess. They can’t wait to ride again!
Coach Operator Elaine Sanchez was at the helm of the New Flyer Xcelsior for the historic trip. Elaine was recently honored with the Omnitrans Employee of the Quarter award for her outstanding customer service.
Omnitrans CEO Milo climbed aboard on his way to a meeting, always happy to get a chance to meet some of our passengers.
This mom and her new baby were among the first passengers to board.

Mr. Jones was the first bike passenger to join us on the trip. He just recently starting biking and taking Omnitrans to save the expense of gas money.

The super secret new logo and color scheme have been kept under tight wraps here at Omnitrans, so we’re all pretty excited to see how the buses are actually going to look. We thought we’d give you a peek inside the bus bays to see what’s going on. Click photos for enlarged views.
It took about 15 hours just to do the sanding prep on Old Blue. Here Angel tapes off the bus for painting. Old Blue is actually getting a mini-makeover and not the full treatment. Just the peach colored strip and old logo will change.
The first of our New Flyer Xcelsior buses have arrived and are ready for painting. Gorgeous, right? These new buses will feature triple bike racks to better accommodate our cyclist riders.
Here’s a view inside the New Flyer Xcelsior bus–love that new bus smell! The interior has the same number of seats and the same space at our current buses.
The old logo fabric you see on these seats from one of our current buses is being phased out.
One of the current buses in our fleet is prepped and awaiting its makeover. It looks very mysterious with all that tape and paper.
So what’s the new look actually going to be? You’ll have to wait until August 15th to find out. Stay tuned!
