Guide to January 2018 Service Changes

New year, new service enhancements! Effective January 2, 2018, several Omnitrans bus routes will undergo run-time adjustments for improved efficiency and transfer connections. These changes, along with new transit partnerships, will make transportation more convenient for the San Bernardino Valley.

As of this week, Metrolink now serves the San Bernardino Transit Center, providing more transportation options and allowing quicker access for Omnitrans riders heading to Los Angeles and Orange County via passenger rail. Omnitrans riders are now able to connect to Metrolink at the SBTC, and hop on the San Bernardino Line to Downtown Los Angeles, or the Inland Empire-Orange County Line and head as far south as Oceanside.

Additionally, a new Riverside Transit Agency (RTA) route will begin to serve the San Bernardino Transit Center on January 14, 2018. The route, Commuter Link Express Route 200, connects passengers from Downtown San Bernardino to Riverside and Anaheim with limited stops along the way. Popular destinations on this route include: the Riverside Galleria, Disneyland Resort, Anaheim Convention Center, and the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center.

Metrolink service extends to the San Bernardino Transit Center on December 18

Commuting to and from downtown San Bernardino is about to get easier for you and all transit riders in the region! Beginning Monday, December 18, 2017, Metrolink service will extend to the San Bernardino Transit Center (SBTC), connecting to several Omnitrans local routes, the sbX Green Line, and neighboring transit agencies: Pass Transit, Mountain Transit, Victor Valley Transit Authority (VVTA), and Riverside Transit Agency (RTA) starting January 2018.

Currently, Metrolink services San Bernardino from the Santa Fe Depot. With the completion of the extension project, the Metrolink San Bernardino and Inland Empire-Orange County Lines will now extend service one mile further east to Downtown San Bernardino at the transit center located at 599 W. Rialto Ave. (Arrow, the forthcoming passenger rail service connecting San Bernardino to Redlands, will enhance rail connectivity beyond San Bernardino when it launches in early 2021.)

While Metrolink is its own entity and not operated by Omnitrans, we look forward to enhancing regional transportation through this partnership. As a reminder, your Metrolink one-way ticket is good for one free transfer to an Omnitrans bus departing a Metrolink station, including the SBTC. For the full Metrolink Transfer policy, please click here.

You can join us and the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority (SBTCA) in celebrating the completion of this project on Tuesday, December 5 at 2:00 p.m. The event will take place in the new Park & Ride lot south of the San Bernardino Transit Center and feature raffles, food, live performances, community resources, and a showcase of Metrolink’s new clean diesel locomotive!

To begin planning your travel, refer to the Metrolink schedule and timetable. For more information on Metrolink service, visit metrolinktrains.com.

Omnitrans Connecting at Ontario International Airport Every 15 Minutes

Getting to Ontario International Airport (ONT) is about to get easier for travelers starting on Tuesday, September 5, 2017! Avoid the parking lot crowding, pricey ride hailing or car rental and get dropped off, or picked up, right at your terminal by Omnitrans’ Route 61.

When September service changes go into effect on Tuesday, Route 61 will service ONT every 15 minutes, seven days a week. Both Omnitrans bus stops are located along Terminal Way at Terminals 2 and 4, just east of the baggage claim areas. Riding the bus is convenient and cost-effective, with regular one-way fare for only $1.75.

“Ontario International Airport is a public treasure and it should be more readily accessible by public transit, particularly as we add air service and the number of passengers we serve continues to rise,” said Alan D. Wapner, Ontario International Airport Authority (OIAA) president and Omnitrans board member. “We are grateful to Omnitrans for increasing dependable and affordable service for air travelers, greeters and employees alike.”

Beginning at the Pomona Metrolink station, Route 61 runs through Pomona, Montclair, and Ontario, before ending at the Fontana Metrolink station (reverse for westbound.) The first bus arrives in ONT at 4:45 a.m., with the last bus departing at 10:45 p.m.

Omnitrans Route 80 also reaches ONT with hourly service seven days a week, traveling through Ontario and Rancho Cucamonga. For more details on how to ride and to plan your trip, visit www.omnitrans.org.
