Dump the pump, ride freeway express free on June 15!

Omnitrans is inviting you to DUMP THE PUMP on Thursday, June 15, 2017! National Dump the Pump Day is a day to highlight the many benefits of using public transportation. Leave your car at home on this day and take advantage of our FREE ride coupon to use on any of our three Freeway Express routes.

It is fact that public transportation:

  • helps people save money on vehicle maintenance and other expenses. Did you know that a two-person household can save, on the average, $9,823 a year by downsizing to one car?
  • has a proven record of reducing congestion and travel time. In 2011, U.S. public transportation use saved 865 million hours in travel time and 450 million gallons of fuel in 498 urban areas.
  • reduces gasoline consumption and carbon footprint. One person with a 20-mile round trip commute who switches from driving to public transit can reduce his or her daily carbon emissions by 20 pounds, or more than 4,800 pounds in a year.

Great! I look forward to dumping the pump and riding Omnitrans. How do I get a hold of the free ride coupon?

Look no further than the official Omnitrans app! The app can be downloaded from the iTunes or Google Play app stores.

INSTRUCTIONS: Simply install the app, select the Free Ride tab on the menu bar, and present to the bus driver upon boarding the bus.

The coupon is valid only on June 15th on Freeway Express Routes 208, 215, and 290. One per customer. No cash value. No print coupons will be accepted.

The new year will welcome Omnitrans riders with new service enhancements and more connectivity! Beginning on Sunday, January 8th, Route 215 customers can expect changes implemented by Riverside Transit Agency (RTA) as part of a project that will introduce new and upgraded bus stops at more than 20 central locations. The project is designed to deliver world-class service to popular destinations as the Riverside area continues to grow and expand.

The existing Riverside Downtown Terminal will shut down and Route 215, our Freeway Express route traveling from the San Bernardino Transit Center to Downtown Riverside, will make adjustments to better serve our riders traveling to the area. The new stop for Route 215 will be located at University and Lemon, with one additional connecting stop at the Metrolink Station in Downtown Riverside on Vine Street (see map below). This change will be effective on Sunday, January 8th

CSUSB students head back to school with Go Smart

20140429_073240

Yesterday was the first day of classes at Cal State University, and the Omnitrans team was there to talk with students about Go Smart

With the Go Smart program, CSUSB students with a valid student ID can get unlimited rides on any Omnitrans fixed route, sbX, or Freeway Express service. Funding for the program comes from student fees and administrative sources.

If you’ve ever tried to find campus parking, you know that feeling of endlessly circling the lots desperately searching for an open space near your class. Purchasing a permit can also be pricey on a student budget. You can expect to pay $84 to $102 per quarter.

parking2Would you rather commute this way?

IMG_3499                 Or would you rather ride free this way?

The Omnitrans/sbX bus station on campus features beautiful landscapes, art and modern shelters where you can relax while you wait for the bus to arrive. Our sbX rapid transit service, which runs from Palm and Kendall to the Loma Linda VA hospital, offers free Wi Fi and power outlets for charging your smart devices. Omnitrans Route 2 also travels that between campus and Loma Linda, but makes more frequent stops along the way.

Best of all, Go Smart doesn’t just limit you to bus service to and from class. You can ride the bus for free anytime! That means even bigger savings!

Do you want to combine bike and bus for your daily commute? sbX offers interior bike racks for up to four bicycles, while Omnitrans buses have exterior front-of-bus racks that can accommodate two or three bicycles at a time.

Wondering when the next bus will arrive? Our Omnitrans app includes NexTrip live bus arrival information, Rider Alert detours and stop closures, the Bus Book, Omnitrans news and promotions, as well as links to the our website and social media. The app is a free download from Google Play or the App Store.

Need more convincing? Here’s what one Cal State Senior had to say about the Omnitrans Go Smart program.
