General Requirements

Medical Examination
All applicants are required to take a medical exam prior to appointment. The exam will include an alcohol and drug screen. Failure to meet medical standards will preclude placement in that position.

Immigration and Control Act of 1986
To comply with the provisions of the law, all applicants, prior to placement, must provide proof of work eligibility and attest that they are a citizen, permanent resident alien, or otherwise authorized to be employed.

Candidates that possess a Class B license with Passenger and Air Brake endorsements may be eligible for a Sign-on Bonus of $300.00. The sign-on bonus is paid ½ at time of hire and ½ at the completion of the 6 month probationary period. Coach Operators are under general direction to safely operate a transit coach over assigned routes according to published schedules. sbX BRT COACH OPERATOR **INTERNAL ONLY**

Current hourly rate of pay plus $2.00 per hour

OMNITRANS is seeking interested Coach Operator Employees who want to increase their skills operating the BRT service. This service mirrors light-rail service with dedicated amenities, stations and significantly reduced travel times while utilizing dedicated BRT buses. sbX utilizes standalone stations with level boarding, pre-paid fares, dedicated lanes, signal prioritization, and limited stop spacing to achieve faster service. This position is a 12-month appointment. Candidates accepted as an sbX eligible Coach Operator are Coach Operators who are interested in being full-time sbX Operators but unable due to Senior Operators filling all available sbX positions. While on the sbX eligibility list a Coach Operator, on any given day can be called upon, on a rotating basis, to cover an open sbX shift, and cannot refuse assignment. In the event a permanent opening is made, due to attrition or an Operator is removed from the sbX program, the first Coach Operator on the sbX eligibility list will fill the position. The successful candidates will be paid their current hourly rate of pay plus $2.00 per hour as base pay when performing sbX duties.
