Omnitrans Announces Poetry in Motion Contest Winners
First Ever Event Open To Local Students

San Bernardino, February 2, 2007 Omnitrans announces the Poets in Motion Contest, featuring “Heroes.”  Students within the Omnitrans service area are invited to submit a 10-line poem about a non-fictional person who has inspired, encouraged and motivated them.

“A hero doesn’t have to have super powers to have made an impact on someone’s life,” said Omnitrans Director of Marketing Wendy Williams.  “Everyday heroes are all around us.”

Three Best in Show winners and six Merit Award winners will be chosen from three grade categories:  Elementary: 4-6, Middle Grades 7 – 8 and High School: Grades 9 – 12.   Best in Show winners will have their poems featured on interior posters inside of the entire fleet of Omnitrans buses during National Poetry Month in April.  In addition to the interior display of their work onboard the buses, Best in Show winners will receive a $50 Gift Certificate to Borders, Krikorian movie tickets, Bakers gift certificates, a Gameworks game card and a 31-Day student bus pass.  Six Merit Award winners will receive a $10 Borders Gift Certificate, a Bakers Drive Thru gift certificate, a Gameworks game card and a 7-day bus pass.  The first 100 entrants will receive a book, courtesy of the San Bernardino City of Readers program.  All entrants will receive a certificate of participation and a pen.

The Poets in Motion contest is sponsored by Bakers Drive Thru, Gameworks of Ontario, The Sun, the San Bernardino City of Readers and Omnitrans.

The deadline for entries is March 1, 2007.   Entry forms can be obtained on the Omnitrans website at www.omnitrans.org or by calling Omnitrans Marketing Specialist Janice Kuhn at (909)379-7168.
