Omnitrans Eliminates Weekend OmniLink Service As part of its efforts to ensure state funding for its agency and service, Omnitrans will eliminate weekend service on its OmniLink curb-to-curb service for the general public beginning Saturday, May 12. The changes to OmniLink, which serves the communities of Chino Hills and Yucaipa, are one part of the service plan being implemented throughout the agency in order to improve passenger productivity levels. These changes are essential to meeting the California’s Transportation Development Act’s (TDA) 20 percent fare recovery ratio requirement. TDA money provides approximately 60 percent of Omnitrans’ operating funds, and could be jeopardized if passenger fares do not cover at least 20 percent of operating expenses. The service reductions will be followed by a fare increase in July. “It’s never easy to eliminate service; however, since it was necessary we have elected to remove Omnitrans’ least-used service in order to minimize impact on our customers,” explained agency spokesperson Wendy Williams. OmniLink service will continue to operate in the communities it serves from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday – Friday. Reservations and further information are available at 1(800) 330-6424 (Chino Hills) or 1(800) 990-2406 (Yucaipa).
