Omnitrans Fare Increase Effective Sunday A new fare structure created by Omnitrans to secure the transit Agency’s primary source of funding will be implemented on Sunday, July 1. The change marks the first increase to all bus fares in nearly four years. Along with recent service changes, the increase is designed to improve productivity levels in terms of passenger trips and passenger revenue per hour of service. The changes are essential to meeting the California’s Transportation Development Act’s (TDA) fare recovery ratio for funding, which requires that passenger fares cover at least 20 percent of operating expenses. “Making the decision to raise customer fares is never easy,” said Director of Marketing Wendy Williams. “We encourage our cash customers to save by switching to 7-day and 31-day bus passes, which essentially offsets the cost increase for them.” Further information regarding Omnitrans’ service and fare changes will be posted at www.omnitrans.org.
