John “JP” Pomierski of Upland

San Bernardino, CA – At its June meeting, the Omnitrans Board of Directors elected current Vice Chair Mayor Penny Lilburn of Highland to the Chair position, and current Board Member Mayor John “JP” Pomierski of Upland to the position of Vice Chair. The offices will take effect July 1; Board officers hold their positions for a period of two years.

“Both Penny and JP have a lengthy history of dedication to and support of our agency,” said CEO/General Manager Durand Rall after the meeting. “I look forward to partnering with the Board under their leadership to continue our mission of providing safe, reliable service to the community.”

Lilburn, a five-year veteran of the Omnitrans Board, also has served as a member of the Highland City Council since 2004. Additionally, she is the Executive Director of the Highland Senior Center and serves as a Board member of the CAL-ID Remote Access Network Board and as Alternate Board member for the San Bernardino International Airport and the San Bernardino Associated Governments (SANBAG). Lilburn has been honored with awards including California’s Woman of the Year, State Assemblyman Emmerson’s Woman of Distinction, and the Highland Area Chamber of Commerce’s Citizen of the Year for her career-long affinity for civic service.

“I’m honored to have been elected as Chair of the Omnitrans Board,” said Lilburn of her new position. “I look forward to working closely with my fellow Board members and staff to successfully navigate these turbulent economic times, with a focus on service and stability for our community.”

Pomierski has a similarly impressive record of public service, having held the office of Mayor of Upland since 2000. An eight-year veteran of the Omnitrans Board, he also is owner of JP Construction Company and serves on the Boards of SANBAG and the San Bernardino Council of Governments. Pomierski is the proud founder and president of the Upland Fire Foundation, and makes time to serve as a member of the Advisory Council for the Assistance League, Foothill Communities.

Said Pomierski of his election, “Omnitrans provides an essential public service, and I’m pleased to have the opportunity to help guide the agency to continued success.”
