Yucaipa Transit Center to Offer
New Service, Better Connections

San Bernardino, CAEnhanced transit connectivity, comfortable amenities, and a future city circulator route await customers at the brand-new Yucaipa Transit Center. The public is invited to join Omnitrans, the City of Yucaipa, and local dignitaries to celebrate the grand opening of the city’s new transit hub on Monday, July 12 at 4:30 p.m.

A joint project of Omnitrans and the City more than five years in the making, the Center is located at 34276 Yucaipa Boulevard, adjacent to City Hall.

“The grand opening of this Transit Center marks the completion of a successful partnership,” said CEO/General Manager Milo Victoria. “The end result is more transportation options for the community, and a more enjoyable riding experience for our customers.”

Two Omnitrans routes, 8 and 9, will begin service to the Center on Tuesday, July 13 between Yucaipa and the cities of Mentone, Redlands, and San Bernardino. In addition, the agency will introduce a new weekday circulator route, 308/309, in September to better serve areas including the Scherer Community Center and Norton Younglove Senior Center. The Center also has the potential for future regional expansion and connections with neighboring transit services, such as Beaumont Pass, Metrolink, and the Riverside Transit Agency.

The $2.7 million Center was built with funds from the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act and Federal Transit Administration Section 5309, in addition to contributions from Omnitrans, the City, and the County of San Bernardino. In addition to its eight centrally-located bus stops, the Center features eight shelters, benches and information kiosks in attractively landscaped surroundings featuring a fountain and clock tower at either end.

“The Center ties in very well with the City Hall architecture, and will provide a high quality facility for the citizens of Yucaipa for years to come,” said Mayor of Yucaipa and Omnitrans Board of Directors member Dick Riddell. A plaque will be dedicated to Riddell and his fellow City Council members at the grand opening event, in recognition of their dedication to the project.

The Yucaipa Transit Center was designed by Psomas and built by Hillcrest Contracting, Inc.
