As you climb the steps to board the bus, you'll see the metal
farebox located next to the driver. Please put your cash fare into
the top of the farebox. Our drivers cannot make change for you,
so please
have exact change for your fare.
If you have an Omnitrans bus pass,
you'll do things a little differently. The next part of this
page describes how and when to use the swipe reader and trim unit.
If
you have a 1-day pass or 31-day pass, use our new swipe reader!
It will save you time and reduce wear and tear on your pass.
The swipe reader is located on the top of the fare box. Insert
your pass, with magnetic stripe on the bottom and facing you. Move
card in direction of yellow arrows, from right to left. The
photo on the right shows how to use the swipe unit.
- With an on-board purchased 1-day pass
If you buy a 1-day pass on board, it is issued by the "trim" unit.
You can use the swipe reader for all other boardings that day.
-
With a 31-day, 7-day, or prepaid 1-day pass
On the first use, insert the pass into the "trim" unit on the
right side of the farebox. This prints effective dates on the pass. For
all other boardings, you can use the swipe reader. The photo to the right
shows how to use the trim unit.
